My girls took to this roost right away, and the wood stand feels solid even with a dozen of them jostling for the top spot at night. The ladder platforms give the younger hens a place to hop up gradually instead of fighting for one bar.
The ladder platforms are sturdy enough that even my heaviest Buff Orpington hops on without it wobbling, and cleaning the wood stand underneath takes minutes. My 12 hens rotate through the perches every night now instead of crowding the floor.
My girls took to the ladder platforms right away, which was a relief since they’re usually picky about new roosts. Assembly took a bit longer than I’d like, but the wood stand feels sturdy enough for our dozen hens.
