The wood is smooth and sturdy, no sharp edges or splinters, so I don’t worry about my hens scratching themselves. They took to the swing within a day, and watching them take turns has cut down on the pecking order squabbles noticeably.
My girls actually use the swing more than I expected, and the natural wood finish fits right into the run without looking out of place. Only gripe is the assembly took a bit of patience, but once it was up it's held steady through some pretty rough weather.
My hens ignore the swing entirely, but they do peck at the wooden base and perch on the top bar, so it gets some use. Assembly took me about an hour and the screws felt a bit cheap, though the natural wood finish looks nice in the run. It's fine for the price, just don't expect them to actually play
